Friday 28th May 2010 saw the long anticipated open of the new Louis Vuitton store in central London’s prestigious New Bond Street. Called ‘Louis Vuitton Maison’, the creation was the idea of top architecture Peter Marino. With intimidating tall windows enclosed in luxurious gold chains, silk wallpapers, exotic bamboo and there was even the unveil of a small art gallery featuring work by artists Takashi Murakami and Richard Prince. Yves Carcelle recognizes the importance of having such a prominent place in London’s designer district and visioned a contemporary feel whilst still maintaining its special heritage. At 1,500 square meters and three floors it’s the biggest LV store in the world. The launch party saw Alexa Chung, Daisy Lowe and Alice Dellal first grace the brand new floor, with television screen dotted around the store showing short art films.
