Countdown: A period of increasing activity, tension, or anxiety, as before a deadline.

The day is Monday 14th December 2009. Ten years ago, Prince was storming the charts with a re- issue of 1999, Joe McElderry was 8 years old and Ryan Giggs was one of the star players in Manchester United’s team. Some things change, some stay surprisingly the same.

I remember writing a prediction of what the Noughties would bring as a secondary school pupil in 1999. I said, “Technology will be better, but Monday ten years from now will be pretty much like Monday today”

In some aspects I was right, but as you’ll see from t5m’s Countdown of the Decade, events that we only dreamt about in the 20th Century have turned into reality. Dreams have been made, and nightmares have been realised.

I hope you will join me in looking back over the first part of t5m’s Countdown.
