Barakah nights is the new social scene for alternative dancing that saw its first event in November 2009. Sick of the traditional nights out of pop and hip hop? Then this just might be the thing for you.
Chan’ga Bar in Couch End, North London showed me a mixture of music from Funky house, Greek tunes and some Arabic overtones thrown in…..
For entertainment there was a belly dancing queen that oozed sex appeal from every pour; every girl wanted to be like her and quickly tried to master the complicated belly rhythmic style and she got the crowd going with her mind blowing movements that I’m still trying to master.
If you’re into Latino style dance then this is definitely the place for you to hit the dance floor once a month, and shine with Latino confidence. I was impressed with the sheer mixture of musical style all under one roof. Each hour was dedicated to one style of music genre. I’d never done Arabic or Latino style dancing before but from just watching the belly dancing queen, I soon learnt how to move my hips and belly in time with the music.
By the end of the night my stomach felt like it have a amazing workout and to top it all the Mediterranean meze cuisine help me to remember a night that was entertaining, lively and bought a different flavour to the London party scene; as there was even a Live Darbuka drummer present that got the already upbeat crowd dancing in the aisles.
Don’t miss the next session of med style music in December 2009 with an hour or two of Funky House and R&B thrown in for good measure and for the diehard the fans of Black Eyed Peas or Rihanna.
Barakah Nights offer the right length of music styles and as a nice mixture of cultures all under one roof… what’s the dress code?
Sleek, stylish and very sexy!
