I've been bitten. By the Twilight bug, that is. When I first curled up on the couch and opened the glossy black book, I expected a decent story about vampires. What I didn't predict was the fact that I, a tragically normal woman, would become enamored with the Cullen family.

Jackson Rathbone's acting chops extend beyond the Twilight Saga

With the disheartening news, rather, lack thereof, of Eclipse spoilers, Jacksper fans can at least delight in the trailer and new promotional photos of the upcoming film, The Last Airbender, featuring Jackson Rathbone.

From the official Facebook site, the plot outline:

Air, Water, Earth, Fire. Four nations tied by destiny when the Fire Nation launches a brutal war against the others. A century has passed with no hope in sight to change the path of this destruction. Caught between combat and courage, Aang (Noah Ringer) discovers he is the lone Avatar with the power to manipulate all four elements. Aang teams with Katara (Nicola Peltz), a Waterbender, and her brother, Sokka (Jackson Rathbone), to restore balance to their war-torn world. Based on the hugely successful Nickelodeon animated TV series, the live-action feature film “The Last Airbender” is the opening chapter in Aang’s struggle to survive.

While the official opening date for the movie is July 10, 2010, The Last Airbender is slated for release in the U.K. on August 13, 2010.

Jackson is great at staying balanced. His band, 100 Monkeys, makes tour stops at random venues. He’s a master at staying grounded and flying below the radar, all while having a great time doing what he loves.

Do you have any desire to see this movie, either because of Jackson’s involvement or because the plot is intriguing?

A Twilight year in review and resolution to remain Eclipse spoiler free in 2010

Forget news posts- I’m feeling a bit nostalgic and need to share…

My obsession with these four glossy black books known as the Twilight saga began around October of 2008. It seems so long ago now, that the anticipation for the first movie drove me and fellow Twilighters wild. We had custom shirts made. We squealed. We talked Twilight shop non-stop. To this day, I can infuse Twilight lingo into any average conversation.

In 2009, my world changed. What started as a simple outlet to vent, spread news, and oscillate between real-world obligations and an alternate reality exploded.

What would have been a pipe dream months ago, the absolute fortune to interview entertainment figures, has now become a part of my reality. Real world and alternate reality have collided.

Among the faces:

Kellan Lutz- part one and part two

Daniel Cudmore

Gil Birmingham

Oliver Irving, director, How to Be

Ok GO (New Moon soundtrack)

Hurricane Bells (New Moon soundtrack)

Blue Foundation (Twilight soundtrack)

The makers of Bella’s cake (shame for the deleted scene that showcases this gorgeous cake)

This year has had me spun up, but as we enter a new decade, I find myself in a new place. My top isn’t spinning as voraciously; instead, as a seasoned Twilighter, I can navigate my worlds much more clearly.

The anticipation of New Moon had me combing, scouring every bit of information on the net about what was to come. Spoilers meant nothing to me; they only provided an added tinge of excitement before I took the plunge and immersed myself into any new tidbits Summit had to offer.

I’m considering a New Year’s resolution– staying spoiler-free until the release of Eclipse. Is it possible to blog for four Twilight outlets, including the information overload of Twitter and remain an Eclipse virgin? My brain was on Twilight overload 2 weeks before the release of New Moon, and I had to take a break. Will I find the opposite effect occur should I abstain for a six month duration?

Only one picture has been released of Eclipse thus far, and aside from Edward’s drooping bouffant, it could be an image from any of the three movies; it hardly counts as a spoiler. So this is the time to make a resolution… a pinky swear, of sorts.

Anyone else willing to take the plunge?

New Moon entices Team Edward fans to switch gears towards Jacob

Team Edward fans, watch out- there’s a new dog in town.

I was up until 3am on Twilight/New Moon overload, and I’m writing on fumes with images reeling through my mind. I bring you my review, sans spoilers:

Jacob seamlessly burst his muscled body into the flick and won over the hearts of the entire audience. He’s bold and brazen with the softest touch his hulky form can muster. The warmth in his eyes are enough to melt any warm blooded woman.

The infamous “flittering images” of Edward were delicious. Well-done; a perfect compromise between the written word and the visually dynamic needed tone of Melissa Rosenberg and Chris Weitz’s on-screen vision.

I have only two criticisms:

The music. Not the soundtrack, mind you- the score. At two points in the movie, carnival music seemed to overtake the image of brawling wolves and provide unneeded fodder for the plane ride to Italy.

Laurent. Though Edi Gathegi has worked himself into the hearts of fans worldwide with his overexposure to his on-screen character, perhaps he should’ve spent a bit more time on his accent. I’m not worldly traveled, but I did detect traces of French, Spanish, and Jamaican accents in his one monologue within the movie.

Overall, it’s definitely worth a wait in line, if nothing more than to see the ending clip of the flick.

On that abrupt note, have you seen the movie? What were your thoughts? If not, what are you most looking forward to seeing? At this early in the game, try to leave too much by way of spoilers of the plot…

Steve Schiltz, of the band, Longwave, has been jotting down songs for the past 18 months or so. After taking an original 20 songs and condensing them to a mere 13 or 14, Monsters was all but forgotten, until his manager made a special request.

“My manager asked me for a few songs that were exclusive. I didn’t want to get my heart broken, so I asked not to be told what the songs were for,” recalls Steve. “They called a month later and wanted an edit- they wanted the intro longer. I was still in the dark about it. A couple of days later I was still in my basement studio doing these little edits for something that may be on the big screen somewhere. In the end, I never got a formal introduction- it was just announced.”

Monsters went from cutting room floor to track number 10 on the billboard chart topper New Moon soundtrack, and Hurricane Bells has become an overnight sensation. Literally.

Amazingly, all of the components that go into the song were performed solely by Steve, and dubbed together- voice, drums, guitar, and bass guitar.

“You’ve got to understand that everything was recorded on my laptop in this basement in Queens (New York). It cost me nothing but my time to do it- a far cry from the amazing producers and recording budgets. These are essentially demos.”

With a song poised to become an overnight sensation, Steve suddenly found himself scrambling to name his new “band,” which two months ago, was nonexistent.

“I was goofing off on the internet and just put these words together. Turns out that hurricane bells were heavy stone bells hung out by the sea. They only made a noise during a late night storm.” The name was dark and deep, perfect for what Steve was looking for, and, *poof* Hurricane Bells was born.

“I’ve seen my clip, but the first time I saw it, it didn’t seem right. It was jarring,” says Steve. “It was hard to get my head around (the fact) that it was my song; it felt like someone had just dubbed it in.”

The song plays twice during the beginning New Moon- once in Bella’s truck as she drives to school, and again, as Edward strides towards her in the parking lot.

After having received several offers, Steve, aka Hurricane Bells, is releasing his collection of songs in a debut album titled Tonight is the Ghost digitally on November 10, 2009 via Vagrant Records

About the record, his publicist says:

Tonight Is The Ghost is a moody, gorgeous mix of somber undercurrents and chiming guitars bathed in echo and reverb. Running the musical gamut from hauntingly melancholic (“This Year”, “Tenterhooks”) to driving, guitar-jangling pop (“This Is A Test”, “Darkness Is So Deep”) to mournful, lovely atmospheric ballads (“I Can’t Remember”, “Tonight I’m Going To Be Like A Shooting Star”), the songs are all linked by a distinctive late-night feel that threads a certain ease and soulfulness throughout the album.

Will the New Moon trailer ruin the film for fans?

Surely, if you’re a die-hard Twilight fan, you’ve seen the first movie by now. Watching the New Moon trailer brings back a slew of emotion… a rush of what-ifs from the anticipation of Twilight.

After I watched the Twilight trailer over and over… and over again, I simply knew I’d be ruined for the movie. Happily, it exceeded my expectations. So much so that the number of times I saw the flick in theaters eludes me.

That said, I had come into the Twilight ball game a bit late, much like James, Laurent and Victoria. I knew what was going on, but hadn’t seen the whole picture. My fascination began only a month before the release of the movie. I had but days to bloat my hype over the flick.

New Moon is a different story- for me, and for everyone involved in the making. A new director, Chris Weitz, has done absolutely nothing but impress me. And kudos to the new budget that allowed for top notch makeup and wardrobe artists. I’ve been absorbed and fascinated from the get-go. Will that desensitize me for New Moon?

Today, the breakup scene leaked from the Rome Film Festival. I watched it. I ruined my virgined eyes, which were waiting patiently to become enraptured on the big screen. I have my tissues ready to go. Yes. I’m that paranoid, that girlie, that wimpy. So did seeing that fragile scene scar my emotions? Guess I’ll have to wait until November to find that one out.

Will this trailer hurt your New Moon expectations or foster them? That, my dear Twi-hards, is the question.

The latest, most intricate, most passionate New Moon trailer to date has been released, and Summit has really packed a punch with this tasty morsel.

Featuring all of the scenes that drive Twilighters mad for more, the New Moon trailer released at the MTV Video Music Awards includes:

The Breakup Scene
More werewolves and the wolf pack of Quileutes
Flittering images of Edward
Half-naked Jacob
The Cliff Diving scene
The yellow porsche
Edward disrobing
The Volturi
Snippets of the fight scene in Italy

Whew. In less than three minutes, fans and novices alike have been given a great snapshot into the world of Chris Weitz’s vision. The tone for the film has been set, and the grave, melancholy feel stays true to the book.

A couple of things to notice for that may be overlooked to the untrained eye:

* Is that Carlisle in the opening wideshot of the Volturi scene? Looks like this may not be from the Italy scene in the end, rather an explanation of the Volturi that Edward gives to Bella in the beginning of the book.

* The scene where Jacob and Bella are sitting on steps as Jacob explains that he would never hurt her looks like the movie theater – a new backdrop in the Twilight Saga.

* Note the figure that drops behind Charlie in the woods. That flaming red hair must be Victoria. But at what point in the book would this happen? Possibly, as in the first movie, Victoria is introduced early on to provide a sense of consistency throughout the flick.

What details have you noticed about the trailer? Does it meet your expectations?

Twilight Moonlighter on Jackson Rathbone's Eclipse interview with MTV

The news is abuzz with Jackson Rathbone’s Eclipse laced interview with MTV, specifically regarding the filming of his civil war transformation scenes.

A portion of the interview reads:

MTV: Jackson, what are you most looking forward to shooting in the next film?

Jackson Rathbone: I’m really excited to start filming “Eclipse.” I got a chance to read the script, and we get to go back into Jasper’s back story. They actually had to ask me about my equestrian experience. I told them I can gallop and trot and all that. I used to ride. It’s been two or three years since I’ve been on a horse, but I’m excited to get back up on the saddle.

MTV: So we’re going to get to Jasper’s Civil War back story?

Rathbone: Yes, I get to shoot some Civil War stuff, and I’m also going to shoot a lot of fighting scenes. Which is great, because I just came off [M. Night Shyamalan's] “The Last Airbender,” and I’ve been doing fighting for the last six months. So I’m ready to keep it on.

MTV: Are there training scenes in “Eclipse” along these lines?

Rathbone: It’s interesting; there’s a lot of cool scenes where Jasper trains the Cullen family on how to fight the newborns. He gets to train Emmett — and Emmett is a born fighter — so he’s telling Emmett all these techniques, and Emmett thinks he could just best Jasper [during their sparring]. Jasper ends up getting the best of him, because it’s a war mentality, not just a street brawl. It’s about thinking ahead; it’s a chess game.

MTV: Cool. Will we see the scene where Jasper gets bitten?

Rathbone: Oh yeah, we have to see that. It’s going to be great. I’ve been studying up a lot on the Civil War and that era. It really was a crazy time. It was all-out war on our own turf and between countrymen. That’s terrible. It’s an interesting time to see when Jasper was actually human and what his human form was and, when he gets turned, how intense and how dark he is. Then [we'll see] his realization of what he’s become, him finding Alice and being redeemed by love.

Although a small part of Eclipse requires the know-how of Jasper to help the others learn to fight against Victoria, Riley and the newborns, it certainly is not a prominent part of the overall plot.

The fan, then, can glean one of two theories from this interview:

Melissa Rosenberg and David Slade are introducing more flagrant pieces of the novel in order to appeal to a broader audience and turn the road away a bit from the sticky, culminating, ever-apparent love triangle between Bella, Edward and Jacob.

Jackson is simply talking about his piece of the puzzle, which may, in fact, be a rather small part of the big picture. Because Twilighters are rabid for any new snippets of information, especially when spoken by one of the larger players, the news spreads like wildfire.

Though the second film, New Moon, hasn’t come to fruition yet, the care Melissa Rosenberg has taken thus far to ensure Twilighters won’t be disappointed has been nothing short of impressive.

So, while it’s easy to pick apart small snippets of information- anything from how distracting Jackson’s role will be in Eclipse, to the abrupt recasting of Victoria, to how bad Kristen Stewart’s wig looks to some- it’s important to remember to sit back, take a deep breath, and let the franchise run its course. No one wants to upset the allegorical apple cart upon which was built by Twihards.

What’s your theory- do you find one of these two most applicable, or do you have another theory about the Jacksper’s role in Eclipse?

Latest Twilight New Moon news

With cast members back in Vancouver filming the third in the Twilight Saga, Eclipse, new news and filming details looked promising. Anticipation was beginning to peak.

Then, wham-o. Fans across the globe were hit with exciting New Moon news in a single day.

Summit began sprinkling official Volturi images around the net Thursday morning. Red eyed vamps Alec, Marcus, Jane, Aro and Caius shed the actor within, emerging in costume and character, thus adding to the well-calculated hype and frenzy of the impending New Moon.

Minutes within the spread of the images came news of the first single on the New Moon soundtrack, “Meet Me on the Equinox,” a song produced specifically for the movie by Seattle, Washington based indie band, Death Cab for Cutie.

Summit’s official word:

After months of speculation, Atlantic and Chop Shop Records have announced that the first single from the upcoming New Moon Soundtrack will be Death Cab for Cutie’s ‘Meet Me On the Equinox’. Fans will be able to hear the song, which was written exclusively for the soundtrack, in its entirety for the first time September 13th on www.mtv.com during the MTV VMAs.

THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON Original Motion Picture Soundtrack will be in stores October 20th, stay tuned for more information and artist confirmations!

Then, if things couldn’t get any better, raw images of Robert Pattinson arriving on set of Eclipse and later pictures of him in character as desirable Edward Cullen rounded out a full evening of New Moon satiation and Eclipse delight.

What’s next to come our way? What would you like to see Summit tantalize us with next?

Bella Swan aka Kristen Stewart meets Dazed Magazine talking about everything from Joan Jett to Robert Pattinson

Teenage Kristen Stewart sheds her aloof “Bella-esque” image in a recent interview with Dazed Magazine. Sputtering expletives throughout her discussion about her film roles including her upcoming portrayal as a street kid prostitute stripper, fans see an all-together different side of Kristen.

Kristen dished about her views on Joan Jett:

She’s the ultimate badass. She was the first woman to start her own record label. Everybody threw her out after the Runaways and was like, ‘Sorry girl, your shticks over,’ she was like ‘No, the message stays the same people still want to hear it.’ Who the f*&k did that before her?

Kristen also got in a dig or two about invasive Twilight fans/paparazzi, who camped outside her interview, using Twitter to discover her 24/7 whereabouts:

Yeah, but you can’t think about it too much because if you think about it too much it is this weird and dreamy fantasy land – you think – ‘ what the h*&l absurd thing are we doing at 3 o’clock in the morning, with 300 people- pretending to be other people, what the f&*k are we doing? … Yeah since Twilight. That’s the only reason they’re out there. They find out where I am from the Internet – from Twitter, man! Anyone who wants to know where I am at any given time just has to go on Twitter, it’s so ridiculous!

But the real reason for the interview, despite 300 lingering fans, was to discuss Kristen’s role in the upcoming flick, Welcome to the Rileys.

A character quite the antithesis of innocent teen Bella, the teen prostitute/stripper role that Kristen tackled was both her favorite and the one with which she has most identified. With Jake Scott (son of Ridley Scott) as the director, Kristen says that it was the greatest filming experience she’s ever had.

About the bones of her salacious character, Kristen says:

I play such a child, like she has the emotional stability of a 5 year old; she’s in her own little world that she had to close off at a certain point. She’s at that point where she’s not quite over the edge like a lot of those people, and I met a lot of them in New Orleans, talking to people who had done the job for so long.

They’re gone. Like I hate to say that, there is a part of them that is dead inside and it is so sad they can still live a happy life or whatever, but that part is. So she’s not dead, she’s still whole. She’s just really broken and she needs to be put back together, and she needs this guy. James Gandolfini plays this plumber who is grieving the loss of his daughter and is dead inside as well, so she is sort of the catalyst of his awakening and subsequent reuniting with his wife, like she comes out of the house after 8 years. Like this vulgar really fully kid who has her own problems greater than theirs ends up helping to get them to a place where they can continue their lives.

Photographer David Benjamin Sherry saw inside Kristen a young Jodie Foster or Winona Ryder, two Hollywood starlets known for brisk pasts and rough edges. In this Dazed interview, Kristen certainly does not disappoint in her equally engaging style, with a jagged edge described as only a strict 180 degree turn from plain homey Bella Swan.

Maybe it’s the mama bear in me, but I just want to wash Miss Stewart’s mouth out with soap, then hand her a lollipop.
