An incredible 12.6 million viewers tuned in to X Factor on Saturday as dozens of Leona-wannabes sought to impress the panel of judges on the hit reality show. No doubt one of the stand out contestants was North Londoner Katie Waissel and her performance of ‘At Last’, which wowed the judges and garnered praise from Cheryl Cole.
However, Katie has since been hounded by rumours that she might be facing the chop from Simon Cowell, following claims that she already has a record deal. It is alleged that Katie has signed a US record deal under the name Lola Fonatine with the help of manager Jason Silverman, and that she appeared on YouTube’s ‘Green Eyed World’ last year.
Waissel failed to mention her US fame in her X Factor application, but in fact came across suspiciously amateur, stumbling over Queen’s ‘We Are the Champions’ and innocently claiming to ’sing all the time… I sing on trains with my guitar’.
Waissel’s US fame has yet to be confirmed by Cowell, so until then, we wait with bated-breath to see whether we will be witness to Waissel’s wonderful voice once again.
