Having faced relentless press attention this past year over his numerous sex scandals, collapsing career and doomed marriage, Tiger Woods and wife, Elin Nordegen, have finally gained closure on the ordeal, yesterday confirming their divorce. The settlement is rumoured to have included a £64million pay out to Elin, even though she could have been entitled to up to half of the disgraced golfer’s £650 million fortune.

The couple appeared at the Bay Country Circuit in Panama City, Florida for the hearing, where it was announced they will share custody of their two children.

It wasn’t long ago that Woods was every young boys idol: not only rolling in money with a beautiful wife and kids, but he was set to go down as one of the, if not the most, successful sportsmen in history. His success rocketed as along with conquering the world of gold, he made an impressive dent in the commercial world, the face of big brands: Gatorade and Accenture. However, today Woods is not the man we once knew and loved, not only has he lost his beautiful wife, their marriage deemed “irretrievably broken” by divorce papers, but has waved goodbye to both his credibility in the golfing world and his crumbling commercial career.
