Reclaimed Meat celebrates the return to form of some of the world’s best loved, yet short lived celebrities.
Aaah, Celebrity Big Brother, which prime cuts have been swept off the factory floor, grilled to perfection and readied to be served up to the discerning masses by Davinia McCall, the maitre d’ of reclaimed meat? Dane Bowers you say…?
Yes, Dane Bowers, one time front man of male vocalist collective, Another Level, famed for their slick r’n'b flavours, smooth lyrics and faultless choreography. Clad in an urban uniform of combat trousers, hoodies and gilets, Dane and his band of boys bought us pop classics including ‘Freak Me’ which hit the top spot back in 1998. We’re pretty sure that had there been more budget, Another Level would have been the next Boys II Men.
Unfortunately, Another Level were the only victims of the Millenium Bug, and in 2000 the band split – leaving a gaping hole in our musical landscape. While some members tried to desperately cling to the life raft (Wayne Williams for example, set up his own record company), it was Dane who emerged as the one to watch - collaborating with Victoria Beckham and appearing in the MTV series Totally Boyband, a show which aimed to replicate the success and musical stylings of Bower’s alta mata, Another Level.
From there on, it seemed like Dane was engulfed by the fog of obscurity - however, he was often spotted in the St. Ives branch of Waitrose, so things couldn’t have been too bad.
He lept back into the public consciousness last year, when he offered one time fling Katie Price comfort and support after her break up with Peter Andre. And since then, he hasn’t looked back.
You can now find Dane in the Celebrity Big Brother house – alongside someone who dated a married man, a purveyor of a unique European dance music and someone else called Vinnie Jones.
Welcome back Dane!
