LiLo’s less than gleaming track record was given another smear over the weekend when The News of The World published grainy photographs from 2007 which appeared to depict Lindsay Lohan injecting heroin. One of the photographs shows a woman staring directly into the camera lens as she is injected in her lower back, others show her wearing a tourniquet around her arm and aiming a hypodermic needle at her arm.
The album contains several photographs of various stages of debauchery and also contains images of self confessed bi-sexual Lohan apparently kissing fellow party-girl Paris Hilton. The photos are of varying quality but all are the murky brown of dingy night time photography. Is it too much to ask our celebrities for some overhead lighting and high quality cameras when they misbehave?
There seem to be a few unanswered questions regarding the photographs from a party hosted by Paris Hilton in 2007. If a source has had these photographs since then why have they not come to light before? As callous as it sounds Lindsay’s trials with drugs are old news if this escalation seems feasible. The photographs of Lindsay taking hard drugs would have been far more valuable and thus earned the provider a great deal more cash had they been revealed back in 2007. The quality of the photos is undeniably poor and whilst the user stares boldly at the camera, identifying her accurately as Lohan is next to impossible. She is definitely female but not definitely Lohan though as long as papers say ‘alleged’ and ‘appear to’ enough times they can almost get away with it.
The exhibitionism of the shots is also questionable. I cannot imagine reason why a celebrity would pose for photographs of themselves taking drugs. Lohan gains nothing from these photos which are hardly likely to rejuvenate her career or convince Judges of her most recent drug foibles to forgive her. It may be justifiable to assume that drugs addled the brain sufficiently to make it a good idea but ive always thought that drug users had far better things to do with their time when high, such as vegetate. However, as the saying goes ‘all publicity is good publicity’, perhaps Lohan will now be chosen to promote the winter NHS flu-jab drive after demonstrative prowess with a hypodermic needle.
Lindsay has made no secret of her struggle with addiction and incidents involving intoxication have hit the headlines repeatedly over the years. If real, the photos are truly damning for Lindsay who this week returned to rehab after testing positive for both cocaine and Adderal, a drug used to treat ADHD. The party girl tweeted a penitent update this week stating ‘Substance abuse is a disease which doesn’t go away over night. I’m working hard to overcome it I did fail my most recent drug test. I’m prepared to face the consequences.’
