Katy Perry and Russell Brand are not your average sort of couple, so it’s only fitting that Katy’s birthday present to Russell was not your average sort of present.
Not content with just a heartfelt card and some aftershave, Katy is sending her soon to be hubby into space.
The singer has forked out an astonishing 128,000 for a seat on Richard Branson’s new Galactic spacecraft for Russell’s 35th birthday.
Virgin Galactic representative, Louella Faria, confirmed:
“It is true. We are very excited to have him onboard. There will be 17-inch diameter windows to look out onto. Passengers will be able to view Earth around 800 miles in any direction from space. They will pop champagne, give you astronaut wings and give you a party.”
But it looks like Brand’s present may have to be a belated one as the space craft is currently undergoing testing. Its maiden flight from Mojave Desert into Mexico may not be until May 2012.
