The debate as to whether burkas should be permitted in Britain is a controversial topic, with many celebrities giving their take on the matter, whether that be for or against.
But Jeremy Clarkson has caused outrage and prompted a series of complaints after it was felt he made insensitive and insulting comments regarding women and burkas. During a discussion on road safety, the Top Gear presenters discussed the idea of scantily clad women as a danger to male drivers, causing a massive distraction and possibly leading to an accident.
When the idea was suggested that women wearing burkas may be a solution to this problem, Clarkson exclaimed: “No, no, no. Honestly, the burka doesn’t work. I was in a cab in Piccadilly the other day when a woman in a full burka crossing the road in front of me tripped over the pavement went head over heels and up it came, red g-string and stockings. I promise that happened. The taxi driver will back me up on that.”
Clarkson’s co stars looked embarrassed as the presenter continued to insist that he was telling the truth. The comments prompted a series of complaints from viewers and even singer Lily Allen took to her Twitter to label the statements as “distasteful”.
What ’s your take on Jeremy’s comments?

what is wrong with people for god sake. if a nun was the subject of the joke then every red blooded male would have been drooling and not complaining. how naive was she to be wearing stockings and a g string. obviously not to shy then. what has happened to the great british sense of humour.gone east i suppose
