Glee has taken over office talk around the country, replacing Friends and Sex and the City as the latest must- see American show.  The final episode entitled ‘Journey’ trumpeted a glorious finale to what was an amazing  first series. Who can forget the ever-so quirky Lady Gaga and Madonna inspired shows with Kirk and Mercedes becoming Cheerios and Sue Sylvester showing us how to Vogue.

Eric Goldman, from IGN, summarises the final episode well as he describes New Directions losing the competition as being appropriate as it would have been far too convenient, and let’s face it, there’s another two series left so they will win eventually. Goldman also describes the  tender moment where Quinn wants Mercedes to stay with her in the delivery room as touching and making us gooey inside.

Glee is refreshing because it breaks with typical American teenage TV show as the plot breaks away from what you might expect. The teenage girl doesn’t keep her baby, the jock is also a geek, the lead female role is pretty annoying and the long lost mother does not want to rekindle her relationship with the daughter she gave away.

It will be hard to top series one but let’s hope that we can look forward to an even better second series.
