Following their split in February amidst rumours of Ashley Cole’s very public infidelity, today Cheryl Cole and her now ex-husband Chelsea footballer, Ashley, were divorced.
The judge ended the marriage on the grounds of Ashley’s ‘unreasonable behaviour’ following lurid allegations of his one night stands and affairs earlier this year.
Neither Ashley nor Cheryl were present for the announcement at the high court, with Cheryl currently in L.A. with dancer and rumoured boyfriend Derek Hough and Ashley preparing for tonight’s European qualifying match with Bulgaria.
Having met in 2004, their pop star / footballer union saw many comparisons with WAG royalty David and Victoria Beckham – they became engaged in 2005 after Ashley proposed in Dubai and they tied the knot with an OK! magazine deal.
Although their marriage was often dogged by rumours and gossip, it was the claims that Ashley had text naked pictures of himself to another woman that seemed to seal the fate on their marriage. When Cheryl performed Fight For This Love at the BRIT Awards without her wedding ring, it signalled that the fairytale was over.
