Proving that Britain most definitely does have talent, Amanda Holden has landed herself a lead role in the West End production, Shrek the Musical.

The Britain’s Got Talent judge will play Fiona, starring alongside Richard Blackwood who has been cast as Donkey.

This is not the first time Amanda has ventured into theatre. She played the title role in the 2003 West End production of Thoroughly Modern Millie for which she earned a nomination for Best Actress in a Musical at the Olivier awards.

Richard Blackwood is also no stranger to the stage, recently appearing in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof at the Novello Theatre alongside James Earl Jones and Phylicia Rashad.

Shrek will open at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane in May 2011.
