Leona Lewis talks about her nerves about performing, the beautiful clothes she’s wearing, and her influences. All in all, “it’s been a bit of a whirlwind!”

Leona Lewis has rocketed to stardom after her appearance on the third series of the X-Factor, where she blew away the judges with her exceptional talent, and described to judges as “fifty times better than any contestant you have ever had on this show” by the singer Gary Barlow, formerly of Take That. After winning the show out of hand, she shot to the top of the charts with hit singles like Bleeding Love and A Moment Like This.

Despite her huge international popularity, she still gets worried about singing at an event as big as the Brits. “I’m very very nervous about performing” she says, although Lewis is extremely excited at the prospect. “I’m looking forward to it so much, I can’t wait” she gushed. She has obviously enjoyed her rise to fame, but even with her past achievements, she says “tonight’s definitely a highlight!”

Leona Lewis’ debut album Spirit entered the charts at number one in nine countries, including the UK, US and Ireland. It has gone platinum in nine countries, six times over in the UK, nine times in Ireland and double platinum in the United World Chart. In this context, Lewis’ comment that “the album’s doing really well” can be taken as quite an understatement! As inspiration for this top album, she credits Eva Cassidy, the tragically short lived American vocalist. “I think she’s amazing” says Lewis.
