This season saw our Viv continue to draw upon details of the past – a hint of longevity to accentuate her own. Tulip-shaped dresses in brocades and traditional upholstery florals came out amongst gathered skirts and school blazers. Colours were deep and rich, reds, blues and greens, often in the plaid of Scottish tartan.
The press release talks of St Trinians as a basis for the anarchistic style of rebellion that has long been expected from Westwood’s collections. Fuzzed, puffed, candyfloss hair was gently enticed into horn-like peeks, whilst shoulders were sharply pointed. Entirely wearable boyfriend knitted sweaters and cream long johns softened the devilish creatures.
Daisy Lowe had an awkward walk that presaged her immanent fall in the direction of Erin O’Connor who sat in the front row accompanied by David Walliams. Pamela Anderson failed to show face but Susie Sue and Kanye West made an appearance. The girls accompanied the designer back on the runway at the end, and bubbly model Tanya Dziahileva provoked a playful race back down the catwalk.
