London Fashion Week round-up of what’s hot and what’s not
23rd September 2009 | 0 comments | 1 person likes this
London Fashion Week was a mix of fabulous, flirty fun as femininity reclaimed its place back into the heart of the fashion capital.
Topping the list of best shows came from fashion favourites Burberry. They transformed the traditional trench coat into a thigh skimming mini in pale pink satin while silk chiffon and gauze featured heavily which was not only easy on the eye, but completely wearable unlike some of the tacky pieces which graced the catwalk this season.
Burberry was by far the biggest draw of London Fashion Week and the British power house said it was thrilled to be back in the capital for the 25th anniversary of the event. Anna Wintour graced the front row of a starry climax to the event. Along with style icons Gwyneth Paltrow, Victoria Beckham and emerging fashionista Emma Watson. Read more »

Yasmin Le Bon follows in the footsteps of Kate Moss and Beth Ditto as she unveils her Wallis range

Now we can all get a touch of Yasmin Le Bon’s effortless, classic chic – with a little bit of help from Wallis. Last night, the supermodel, rock star wife and now designer, Yasmin, unveiled her collection at a glittering party at the Sanderson Hotel, thrown by the notoriously extravagant Phillip Green.
The collection is heavily influenced by key items in Yasmin’s wardrobe – including military coats, fur capelets, velvet trouser suits and silk blouses. Yasmin modelled her collection at the A-List party last night, opting for a deep blue silk tunic and skinny, leather trousers.
And it’s clear she’s been bitten by the design bug, saying:
“I’m so nervous.I’m already thinking about what I’m going to be designing for spring/summer!”
Stand out pieces are the button soft leather jacket and the immpecably cut mini dresses – and fortunately we don’t need to wait very long to get our hands on them at all! The collection is available online from the 12th September, and will be in stores on the 15th!
Check out t5m’s exclusive interview with Yasmin on her channel here, at t5m.

All the important news from fashion land: Cheryl Cole, Kate Moss and Topshop

Because She’s Worth It
She has the glossy mane of hair and the dewy young skin, so Cheryl Cole has always been a L’Oreal girl-in-waiting. But now the wait is over – it was announced yesterday that she is to become to the new face of L’Oreal Paris. Cheryl’s first campaign as an ambassador will be for Elvive’s latest product, Full Restore 5, which is being marketed as a ‘miracle’ product for the five top hair annoyances. Between the X-Factor and the many photo opportunities on the red carpet, we’re sure she’ll have no problem showing off her voluminous locks for the brand.
Meanwhile, still in the lives of Girls Aloud, Kimberly Walsh is obviously determined not to be outdone by her stylish bandmate and has landed a contract with New Look. The starlet looks fabulous showing off her J-Lo-esque curves for the brand and apparently she is a the girl that New Look customers ‘most want to be’ this season. We spy Cheryl versus Kimberly style rivalry on the horizon… Read more » -

Steely Stella goes soft
4th August 2009 | 0 comments | 0 votes yet, click here to agree or disagree
Known for her sharp tailoring and fierce clothes, fashion designer Stella McCartney’s fall collection photographs are a stark alteration from her typical campaigns. Following in her mother’s footsteps, a famed animal rights protector, Stella’s strictly ‘no animals’ policy in the making of her clothes is ironically abandoned through starring Disney’s cast of Bambi in the photo shoot for her Fall campaign.
But why such a childlike figure alongside Stella’s famously severe clothes?
Apparently Stella wanted to juxtapose the innocence of such a recognisable figure with the fierceness of her clothes. Well the campaign definitely works; Bambi may look at home in the woodlands alongside his furry friends, but model Sigrid Agren, looks more edited in than the cartoon characters them selves. Keep an eye out for Bambi and co in September’s Issue of British Vogue. Who said fashion was becoming predictable….

Kate Moss rocks out, Lily Allen duets and Will Young dances for ‘Hoping for Palestine’
19th June 2009 | 0 comments | 0 votes yet, click here to agree or disagree
London’s Cafe de Paris echoed with the sounds of the A-List last night, as the great and the good of British celeb-dom got together to raise money for children’s refugee charity ‘Hoping for Palestine’.
With guests including Kate Moss, Jamie Hince, Lily Allen, Will Young, Will Self, Sadie Frost and Jeremy Clarkson (and more – but we’d be here all night!) the evening’s festivities raised around half a million pounds for the worthwhile cause. And we can hardly say we are surprised – the evening opened with Lily Allen and Jamie Hince performing a ’sultry’ version of Dream A Little Dream, followed by Shane McGowan and Sam Taylor – Wood raising the roof with Fairytale of New York and Madness frontman Suggs impersonating none other than Britain’s Got Talent star Susan Boyle. Guests bid for performances they enjoyed the most – and Lily and Jamie stole the show raising £48,350 with Will Self raising £12,000 and Will Young’s fat-suit routine bringing in £8,000.
But of course, it was Kate Moss who stole the show – taking to the stage with Dave Gilmour of Pink Floyd’s Summertime as she writhed along the stage floor – proving herself the eternal rock goddess that we knew she was.
We assume our invitation to perform was lost in the post…?

Naomi Campbell shines as supermodels line-up for V Magazine’s first swimsuit issue
5th May 2009 | 1 comments | 0 votes yet, click here to agree or disagree
British model Naomi Campbell strikes a sexy pose in a bunny outfit for the new cover of V Magazine. The latest issue of the US fashion bible hits the shelves tomorrow, and Naomi is one of six supermodels to be pictured by legendary fashion and celebrity photographer Mario Testino for the first ever swimsuit edition of V Magazine. But what’s so fantastic about this edition is that considering it is a swimsuit issue, where covers are normally reserved for unknown 18-year-old Amazonians, four out of the six cover models featured are in their thirties; Naomi, Kate Moss, Claudia Schiffer and Eva Herzigova. Beth Ditto is single-handedly taking over the fashion industry; it has been concluded. The Gossip front woman, modern-day icon and BFF of Kate Moss was omnipresent at Paris Fashion Week, having been photographed with everyone from Karl Lagerfield to Kanye West and Thandie Newton and pouring herself into an Herve Leger bondage-dress. She then flew back to the UK to be photographed naked, albeit for an orange wig and a feather boa, for the front cover of new-style bible, Love. Read more »

Gwyneth Paltrow and Sienna Miller’s favourite Matthew Williamson at H&M
22nd April 2009 | 0 comments | 0 votes yet, click here to agree or disagree
Hot on the heels of a super successful collaboration with Comme De Garcons H&M is launching a capsule collection with designer-to-the-stars Matthew Williamson. The collection will be launched tomorrow, April 23rd in 200 selected H&M stores worldwide, including the flagship Oxford Circus store in London.
Williamson graduated from Central St Martins in 1994 with a degree in Fashion Design and Printed Textiles, and three years later launched Matthew Williamson Ltd with Kate Moss, Helena Christenson and Jade Jagger modelling his first collection in September 1997. Williamson now shows at New York fashion week and is a favourite with many-a-celebrity from Cat Deeley to Gwyneth Paltrow and Sienna Miller.
“It is an incredible opportunity to be working with H&M, creating a ‘Matthew Williamson for H&M’ capsule collection. I love the fact that H&M has created a new phenomenon in fashion through the pioneering concept of collaborating with high-end designers to create one-off limited edition capsule collections. I am thrilled that my creations for H&M will be accessible to and hopefully enjoyed by so many people around the world,” says Williamson, who will also design menswear for the first time with the collaboration.
With Topshop preferring it’s celebrity designers, successfully launching Kate Moss for Topshop every season, H&M is definitely beating is taking a different route in securing lucrative-designer collaborations with this latest venture with Matthew Williamson, having formerly created collections with Stella McCartney, Roland Mouret, Roberto Cavalli and Viktor & Rolf. High street-designer collaborations are very much a modern phenomenon on the British high street, capitalising on the idea that anyone can wear catwalk looks for a fraction of the price.
Williamson’s collection will bring his signature ‘boho chic’ look to its widest audience ever. Doors open at 9am, and those who go should brace themselves for the sharp elbows of fashion hungry shoppers in the midst of a credit crunch, wanting the Williamson look for less, with shocking-pink embellished camisoles retailing for £34.99 and silk/cotton tuxedo jackets for £69.99.
“Matthew has such a good eye and a way for working with prints that he mixes up in a new way. When he combines these things, you get a very contemporary London look,” explains H&M’s creative advisor Margareta van den Bosch. “He is fantastic with piling on colour – it’s a very stylish collaboration for H&M, and very much in line with the way we’re thinking about fashion for spring/summer.”
