Something to think about as it’s only 11 days away- for some it’s a dreaded day, for others a magnificent one- so our plan is to bring you alternative and cultural Valentine’s Day rendezvous that will inspire you to head outdoors no matter how you feel about the big VD.
To get the ball rolling, our first suggestion is a Valentine’s Day cinematic experience with an olfactory twist.
jotta, the University of The Arts London’s online creative network, is launching into 3D with the UK’s first ‘Scratch n Sniff Cinema,’ at their soon-to-drop pop-up shop in the West End. It is showing Peter Greenaway’s quirky classic starring Helen Mirren, ‘The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and Her Lover’, which, fyi, has costume design by the brilliant Jean Paul Gaultier and a score by Michael Nyman – so full of brilliance.
The sensory weave comes from the uncompromising architectural food-smiths and jotta members Bompas & Parr, who have created scratch and sniff pads, including ‘rotting meat’ and ‘dusty books’ that you smell during key moments of the film.
Perhaps not the most romantic experience, but, and that’s a big but, how can you miss it?
