Kate Winslet scooped Best Actress at the BAFTAs tonight for her acclaimed performance in The Reader, the film which has already won her a Golden Globe and is expected to bag her the long-awaited Oscar this February. Penélope Cruz won the best supporting actress award for her role in Woody Allen’s Vicky Cristina Barcelona.

Slumdog Millionaire also continued it’s winning streak and was the toast of the evening. Mick Jagger presented the night’s main award of best film. Danny Boyle won Best Director, and the evening closed with the film having won seven awards, including best music, cinematography and editing & sound.
