Move aside Rio, the Notting Hill Carnival returns to London this weekend, and it looks set to be one of the best ever. Hundreds of thousands of people will be enjoying the ubiquitous steel bands, Caribbean food, music and dance that the festival brings to the streets of Notting Hill every year.
Running on Sunday and throughout Bank Holiday Monday, the festival atmosphere will be lively, boisterous and colourful, attracting the most diverse range of people imaginable from London and beyond. Expect pumping music, incredible costumes and lashings of Jamaican beer.
And for those looking to warm up for the weekend’s festivities in style, our pick is Saturday night’s Urban Nerds event in Hearn Street Car Park, Shoreditch. Featuring the epic talents of Mampi Swift, DJ Zinc and Rattus Rattus, it will put ravers well in the mood for Sunday’s carnival special.
Stay tuned to t5m for exclusive coverage of this year’s carnival – including one off interviews with the likes of Norman Jay, Levi Roots, Dave Rodigan and Jack Penante.
