The t5m office is in two minds about Roman Polanski’s recent collaboration with Italian performance artist Francesco Vezzoli; a fake perfume advert for imaginary scent ’Greed‘, starring Michelle Williams and Natalie Portman.

With all the airbrushing, gloss and luxury of a typical perfume advert, the ’short film’ is actually a commentary on the hype and greed surrounding luxury items in the mass market. Phew!

People far cleverer than us suggest that the film is an attempt to isolate our consumerist tendencies by depicting ‘greed’ as the new zeitgeist. But don’t be put off! It’s also an opportunity to see two of Hollywood’s most beautiful stars engage in a pretty prolonged catfight…
