With only a week to go before the start of London Fashion Week A/W 09, we at t5m thought we’d share our excitement with you, bringing you the lowdown on who to watch and what we’re most looking forward to.
Over the week we’ll be transmitting exclusive interviews, backstage footage and show reports straight to your screen for your viewing pleasure – and here’s a heads up on what to expect.
Friday’s On Schedule shows will get off to a flying start with catwalk stalwarts Paul Costelloe and Caroline Charles. But the big buzz of the day surrounds the Esthetica Event, the exhibition now in its sixth season that celebrates eco sustainable fashion.
Eun Jong and Ashish are hotly tipped and the Central Saint Martins MA show continues to create headlines, not to mention the stars of the future. It’ll round off the first day nicely.
One to watch, Kinder Aggugini will make his London debut on Saturday morning and with stints at Paul Smith, John Galliano and Vivienne Westwood under his belt, we’re expecting good things.
Off-schedule highlights today include Qasimi and Ioannis Dimitrousis, while back On-Schedule, ‘masters of print’ Basso and Brooke take in technological and architectural references.
But Vivienne Westwood Red Label is today’s biggie. Expect London’s fashion royalty rocking up to bold styling and bold statements.
Sunday is the day of the hot young things and heritage brands: Todd Lynn, Christopher Kane, Richard Nicoll and Danielle Scutt head up the former, with Aquascutum and Jaeger London flying the flag for longevity.
London’s it crowd will no doubt flock to PPQ and Twenty8Twelve, Sienna and Savannah Miller’s catwalk debut.
Monday morning boasts a hat-trick of design talent, with Avsh Alom Gur’s reinvented Ossie Clark label, the lovely Luella and Erdem, who, if his last few seasons are anything to go by, is set to dazzle us again with fluid shapes and rich colours.
We’ll be catching up again with our favourite Sir Paul Smith, after his evening show.
t5m have been on to him for a while – and as we predicted there is a storm brewing around William Tempest, part of Monday’s Off-Schedule collective.
Tuesday will prove to be another good day for Off-Schedule designers. Avsh Alom Gur will present his personal collection as well as Dutch twins Spijkers en Spijkers and stylist turned designer, House of Blue Eyes.
There are a number of young designers on today’s On –Schedule line-up who are tipped for the top and we at t5m are keeping our eyes on them. Mark Fast, Mary Katrantzou, Meadham Kirchhoff, Peter Pilotto and hat-maker Nasir Mazhar will all be vying for attention and that’s not to mention Fashion East, where Lulu Kennedy will unveil a further three new design talents as part of her acclaimed fashion fixture. Phew!
And it doesn’t stop there. London Fashion Week may be shorter this year but they’ve packed a lot in regardless. Wednesday is the day of the man – for all the testosterone-starved creatures out there. The day long menswear showcase includes Topman’s MAN show (featuring J.W. Anderson, Christopher Shannon and James Long) the b-store show and Tim Soar.
So, whether you’re male or female, young or old, a fashion fanatic or just curious… come fashion week, t5m will have plenty for you to feast your eyes on! It’s going to be a good one…
