The Killers and Coldplay are set to play a one off charity gig on the evening of the BRITs in aid of War Child, to celebrate the charity’s 15th anniversary.

The charity, which works with children in war-torn countries, will stage the concert on 18th February at Shepherd’s Bush Empire, London.

Tickets will be on sale from today until next Tuesday through a lottery system at £50 each.

In a statement, Coldplay said: ‘In our eyes, War Child is one of the world’s most important charities, and The Killers are one of our favourite bands, so playing this concert is an absolute pleasure for us.’

The Killers added: ‘Coldplay were one of the bands that gave us hope when we were just four boys in a garage. To share the stage with them for the War Child cause is an honour.’

The gig also coincides with the release of a compilation album, Heroes, which War Child describes as ‘an unprecedented collaboration between music’s most heralded legends and the finest current artists.’

Icons including Bob Dylan, Brian Wilson and Paul McCartney have requested the likes of Beck, Rufus Wainwright and Duffy to cover a classic track.

Keep your ears peeled for Rufus’s medley from the Beach Boys’ sun-soaked Smile, or The Kooks covering The Kinks’ Victoria.

Pop starlet Duffy will sing ex-Beatle Paul’s Live and Let Die, while Hot Chip take on Joy Division’s Transmission.

The album is out on the 16th February, but sit tight for the full track listing – there’s bound to be plenty more gems to get excited about and all for a very good cause.
