High-street fashion hounds are certainly going to be spoilt for choice this year, with the latest announcement that the glamorous accessories label Jimmy Choo will be collaborating with H&M. Hot on the heels of the top high-street/high-fashion union between H&M and Matthew Williamson, the hot high-street retailer has announced that Jimmy Choo will design a range of accessories for release in stores in November. This will be H&M’s first collaboration with an accessories designer, but there are also plans afoot to extend the range to include a collection of clothing that will aim to complement the accessories rather than vice versa.
Jimmy Choo founder and president Tamara Mellon has said that the collection would bring to H&M a “sophisticated, fashion forward, accessible and glamorous collection” and that the pieces would be the sort that women will want to buy and ‘wear out that night!’ We certainly think it’s time for H&M to put the accessories in the spotlight – the clothing collaborations with the likes of Matthew Williamson and Victor and Rolf have been extremely well received but over the past year the H&M accessories have been hotting up, with a much greater selection of on-trend shoes, bags and jewellery. A little bit of Jimmy Choo glamour may just be the icing on the fashion-forward cake.
