Lily Allen today scooped three prestigious Ivor Novellos today – Best Song Musically and Lyrically and Most Performed Song for The Fear, and overall Best Songwriter.

Best Album went to Paolo Nutini, and Best Contemporary Song went to Natasha Khan aka Bat For Lashes,

“Really, truly, from the bottom of my heart, it’s the songs I’m most proud of”, said Allen after composing herself. “This song [The Fear] is so much about feeling lost in a lot of ways. All of a sudden, this has made me feel found”.

The awards remain an industry favourite due to their refusal to let cameras inside the ceremony – and therefore boosts an excellent turnout with the likes of Sir Trevor Horn to Dizzee Rascal. Paul Weller and Johnny Marr were on hand to receive prizes for their contribution to music, while Neil Sedaka won the special international award.
