Sequins. Graphics. Feathers. Felt. Dulex colour charts. Punky school girls and Sixties icons. What a week it has been – and we’re exhausted.

For the last six days, London has been a blur of big-name powerhouses and emerging talent; we’ve seen minimalism and refinement – thank you Josh Goot and Noir/Bllack Noir, alongside carnival-style fun at Ashish and PPQ. The runways have been packed with famous names – Alice Dellal, Daisy Lowe – as have the frontrows – Kanye West, Lily Allen. The parties have been packed with the fashion A- list, and the show’s soundtracks have made me want to update my ipod. And that’s before we even think about the clothes…

Personal highlights include Holly Fulton’s robot dress at Fashion East and all the kitsch eclecticism at Anastase, with its ragged picnic blanket dresses and infant – school white tights. We also loved Christopher Kane’s grown-up collection of sheer, cut out dresses and modern markerpen stripes.

It was also a landmark year – with an entire day dedicated to menswear for the first time. Wednesday’s schedule was packed with everyone from the renowned Tim Soar to the hotly anticipated Carolyn Massey, and the shows were every bit as exciting as the womens – with Carolyn Massey’s hooded, PVC cape and desert boots at B Store.

What with all the excitement, you’d be forgiven for forgetting the impending economic crisis and instead letting yourself getting whipped up into a fashion frenzy. We think we’ll recover just in time for September…
