Our presenter Bella Crane reports back from the Art London art fair.

The art world often appears to be an intimidating place; an industry populated by historians, prolific collectors and the inquisitive public. Uber-fashionable galleries are generally silent spaces where visitors stand in front of a painting, nodding their head in deep thought. For the first-time buyer the prospect of simply wandering into these galleries, without having mastered the finer points of art history, and wondering whether it is acceptable to mention that you have a ‘budget’ proves daunting

However, there were no such dilemmas at Art London, hosted by the Royal Hospital in Chelsea. There may have been gallery owners and experts galore, but the atmosphere provided an altogether different experience.

Now celebrating its 10th anniversary, this art fair provides a space for over 80 galleries to showcase more than 1000 artists all under one roof. The vast diversity of work on show was impressive but more welcoming was the fact that gallery owners and artists were on hand to give guidance.
