My first show of the season paid homage to the humble hoodie, a favourite item of Sunday afternoon clothing. This Sunday afternoon however, it got a makeover from Horace, in their ‘Desert Survivor’ collection. Teamed with high-waisted, bunched-up leather trousers held securely by dangling, heavy-duty, leather-studded belts, the hooded tops- with their fine-knit and transparent patches- were (for a change) the soft component of the outfits.
The leather bows used throughout gave a gentile twist to the otherwise quite raw and heavy collection. Adam Entwistle, who created Horace seven years ago with design partner Emma Hales, said that the collection conjured up an overall look of ‘a desert survivor meeting a post apocalyptic counterpart.’
If the dresses in the collection were representative of what we will be wearing post-apocalypse- such as the sheer, wrap-around, poncho-inspired little black dress with Bedouin-style details- I say bring on the bunker and let’s get ready to party.
