At 3pm on Sunday, England fled to the pubs to support the nation’s team, only to resurface in disappointment. Germany thrashed England 4-1, securing Germany a quarter final tie with Argentina on Saturday afternoon. England’s final World Cup match marked their worst ever result in a major tournament.
The BBC report that Philip Lahm stated that England were unprepared for the match and possibly underestimated the strength of the German side. England were supposed to be the more experienced compared to Germany but there is a lot that England could learn from the German players, especially Thomas Muller. Muller was the star of the match.
