England seemingly put their embarrassing World Cup Defeat behind them as they triumphed against Hungary in last night’s match.

In a warm up for their Euro 2012 qualifying match against Bulgaria, England initially looked to suffer the same fate as Phil Jagielka guided a low cross into his own net after 62 minutes of play.

But captain, Steven Gerrard scored an equaliser and an excellent second goal, putting England firmly on top. Despite booing before and during the match, the Wembley crowd left in high spirits.

However, cheap ticket prices weren’t enough to fill the stadium and empty seats spoke volumes of disappointment and a lack of faith from fans following South Africa.

Hopefully, this is a new start for the England squad, following their recent troubles. Speaking after the match, Steven Gerrard said:

“After a disappointing World Cup it was all about winning so to come away with the result is a really nice feeling. We hung in there, showed character and got our reward.”

England will face Bulgaria for the Uefa Euro 2012 campaign in Group G at Wembley on September 3 2010.
