He is not a Sir for nothing! Paul Smith’s autumn/winter collection was all felt, feather and thick wool in a muted, peacock – coloured palette at this year’s London Fashion Week, accompanied to a surreal soundtrack of upbeat circus/bass heavy dub step.

Burnt orange tights, military shapes in deepest khaki and a slither of animal-print scarves were nicely capped off with bottle-green fedoras for this earthy look; but he didn’t totally abandon colour, using splashes of brightest fuchsia to liven up the camouflage heavy collection.

The chintzy-rose print prom dresses and long strings of pearls added a feminine touch, whilst the pale faces and deep purple lips made the look a little less ‘safe’.

Overall, Smith’s collection was charming and quaint, without being boring and safe.  We like!
