It’s clear British artists were among the most successful at the Grammys last night. Radiohead kicked off the British success by winning the first award of the night, for ‘Best boxed or special limited edition album.’ Their album ‘In Rainbows’ then went on to win the award for ‘Best alternative music album.’
Coldplay, who were up against Estelle and Jason Mraz won ‘Song of the year’ (Viva La Vida) and ‘Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends’ scooped the best album award.
20 year-old Londoner Adele was almost brought to tears when she accepted her award for ‘Best new artist.’ Last year’s winner Amy Winehouse wasn’t nominated for any awards at all this year.
A well-deserved win was Jennifer Hudson, who despite the murder of her mother, brother and nephew a few months ago, has returned to performing. The former American Idol contestant was awarded for ‘Best R&B album.’
