DIY indie label Brainlove Records has taken over the second room at one of the biggest clubs in town – Club NME at Camden’s palatial Koko venue. The new night, entitled the NME Lounge, will be a weekly Friday night party with a characteristically diverse selection of guest DJs and live acts.

Already lined up for DJ slots in February and March include one half of the renowned noise duo Fuck Buttons, rising New Yorkers The Virgins, and Radio 1’s Huw Stephens. Live acts thus far confirmed include Bristol rapper Ratface and the psych-trance performer Brassica, with more to be announced in the coming weeks.

Just to whet your appetite, previous guests at Brainlove hosted events include Bradford Cox of Deerhunter and Atlas Sound, Richard Artrocker, Drowned In Sound DJs, Plan B’s Miss AMP as well as numerous label-affiliated artists.

The night promises to be so much more than just run of the mill NME-style indie, with John Brainlove stating: ‘We’ll be playing underground indie, hipster-hop, chip-tunes, tweeXcore, danceable noise, grindcore, bootlegs, nu-gaze, garage-rock, no-wave and whatever other sub-sub-sub-genres are exciting us on any given week.’

To be honest, I have never heard of half of those genres, but they sound like fun. Get along to Club NME every Friday at Koko’s in Camden to check it out.
