Beth Ditto is single-handedly taking over the fashion industry; it has been concluded. The Gossip front woman, modern-day icon and BFF of Kate Moss was omnipresent at Paris Fashion Week, having been photographed with everyone from Karl Lagerfield to Kanye West and Thandie Newton and pouring herself into an Herve Leger bondage-dress. She then flew back to the UK to be photographed naked, albeit for an orange wig and a feather boa, for the front cover of new-style bible, Love.
And it doesn’t stop there. Having refused to perform an in-store gig at Oxford Street’s Topshop due to the stores lack of large sizes, saying “give me the job. I want to design, I want you to make clothes for big girls, big boys,” Ditto is now doing exactly that – designing a range for highstreet retailer, Evans.
t5m had a sneak preview of what Miss. Ditto has come with up – and we were mightily impressed! Although we aren’t giving anything away – you can look forward to a collection of daring, fashion-forward directional pieces in an array of ‘look at me colours’, with a range of accessories to die for. t5m’s particular favourite was an enormous cocktail ring with baby pink gems set in yellow gold and a pair of glossy pink spike heels.
We even managed to catch up with Sir Philip Green – who clearly has a keen eye for celebrity/fashion collaborations, who told us he was ‘very proud’ of all his forthcoming collections and that Beth Ditto was an ‘asset to the Arcadia family’.
Beth’s range hits the high street in July – we can’t wait!
