The Hippodrome was host to Ashish’s A/W fashion show and with VV Brown performing, the atmosphere was electric. The sequin master spoilt the crowd with his carnival themed collection, rebelling against the sombre feel fashion has recently taken on with neon-bright greens, pinks and metallics. A mish-mash of flourescently-clad, pom-pom covered outfits left me wanting more. As expected, there was lots of sparkle and sequins, combined with felted roses, animal print wedges and heavy knits. The circus-feel transcended into the accessories as well as the clothes, with top hats covered in pom poms slanting daintily on models heads. Shorts and bomber jacket suits worn over psychedelic patterned tights formed the signature sporty look Ashish is renowned for. A tribute to the US came in the form of stars and stripe embellished harem pants, hanging loose and care-free. The Delhi-born designer took me back to my childhood with brightly coloured tights, bold clashing animal prints and shiny stone-wash denim. Amidst all of this, getting to tell him what an adoring fan I am backstage was most definitely the icing on the cake.
