Is Lily Allen the multi-tasker of the year?! While some of us can barely manage to walk and talk at the same time, Ms Allen is managing to continue her successful music career, become the latest Chanel campaign muse and launch a jewellery collection.
She unveiled her new range at an exclusive tea party yesterday afternoon at Claridges. There are three mini-collections featuring coins, fruit and animals. An enamel flamingo on a chain, favoured by the star, is predicted to be a hot favourite. The collection has been picked up by Argos and H Samuel but will most probably be picked up by more stores when it officially launches at the end of September. And Lily is determined to oversee every last detail of the range, especially as it has her name on it: “I really cared about what these pieces looked like. If your name is on the box, you make sure it looks good.”
At the launch, despite a shaky start when the singer almost exposed more than she bargained for from her low-cut top, Lily looked svelte and chic in an all-black suit ensemble with well-cut jacket and elegant chignon hairstyle.Perhaps all that modelling for Karl Lagerfeld for the new Chanel campaign has rubbed off on her, as she is looking at the fashionable peak at the moment…
Talking of the campaign, pictures have been circling the web today of the new Chanel images, featuring Lily with a selection of the new season bags wearing everything from a tight leather blazer to a ruffle-neck blouse, complete with tiaras and jewelled hair pieces. Overall the images and young and playful: perhaps a strategic attempt by Lagerfeld to freshen the brand for the new season. Between the Lily shots and new film Coco Before Chanel, the fashion and media world seems to be having a new love-affair with the French label. And with such beautiful bags and an historic designer in Coco Chanel, long may it continue!
