Yesterday the capital turned a shade of pink, as the Samsung Pink Ribbon High Tea took place to raise both funds and awarenss of breast cancer.
With 200 guests, including the likes of Katherine Jenkins and Beverley Knight in attendance, the event was part of an ongoing campaign centered on real women who have encountered breast cancer in their lives, and their drive to raise awareness of the importance of being more breast aware.
Speaking to t5m, Katherine Jenkins told us of her personal experience with cancer, having lost her father to the disease – and Beverley Knight explains how she can’t name one person who hasn’t been affected by “the scourge” of cancer in some way. We also spoke to some of the women featured in Samsung Pink Ribbon’s ‘Everybody’s Doing It’ video campaign, who told us how forward thinking and forward looking the event and campaign are.
The event was a success, raising £25,000 on the day – and contributing to a wider £2million raised across Europe, and with breast cancer affecting 400,000 women each year, fundraising events and campaigns to raise awarness like these, must continue.
