Here’s a selection of Xbox 360 Kinect games I’ve been playing, for some reason. Yes, I know, a grown man flailing around in front of a motion sensor might seem daft, it is. It’s also a lot of fun.

    The Gunstringer
A superbly presented on-rails shooter about a dead puppet? Oh yes. Set in a theatre, and introduced with a very sweet little pre-amble by the game’s developers, you take on the...

Gears Of War 3: A Review

I love a good cliché. Don’t you? The way a whole subject or personality is summed up one easy-to-notice bite and damages everything it was trying so hard to cultivate in its own style.
Things like grumpy commuters, Hollywood hot-shots like Charlie Sheen or moaning about not having the heart to dump someone even though you’re not that into them anymore. So cute.
Then there’s Gears Of War 3. This ‘blockbuster release’...

The most addictive game all year is about mining

This should have been a Medal Of Honor review, don’t tell EA. It’s no one’s fault but my own, I knew I’d love Minecraft, I read the hype, I’ve seen the YouTube videos. I knew it would be addictive. It is.
But a game about Mining? ‘Are you mental, Mister?’ I can hear you yelling down your laptop. Even if you’re not. Yes, a game about mining without a Chilean in...

My arm hurts. I woke up this morning and found that my arm is stiff from my shoulder down. This hasn’t happened since my first week with a Nintendo Wii. But now it’s Sony’s turn to agonise limbs with its PlayStation Move.
To add a new level of gaming to Sony’s aging super-horse of a console, the PlayStation 3, the boffins have come up with a motion controller much like Nintendo’s...

What’s the big deal about Halo?

The other week, one of the biggest releases in the recent history of entertainment made over $100 million in sales in around seven days. Impressive, eh?
Of course it is. But just how impressive depends on your disposition towards video games. Halo Reach, the last Halo game in what will probably be a while, was released to critical and consumer acclaim.
The creator of the game, Bungie, has been inundated with awards...

October sees the return of the London Games Festival. From the 21st to the end of the month, London will bulge with events aimed at educating and exploring the world's most popular pastime. OK, the world's second most popular pastime.
Alright, one of the world's most popular pastimes. Forget all your preconceptions, this festival isn't about sitting shoulder to shoulder with spotty teenagers or socially inept 30-somethings, it's a celebration of...
