Twice a year London Docklands’ Excel Centre pushes its glasses a little further up its nose, dusts off its Star Wars toys and gets very geeky for the MCM London Comic Con. The movie, comics and memorabilia expo is another chance to check out the latest in comic books, TV shows and video games. Mainly.
It also gives you the chance to top up your collections of Star Trek models, should you wish to do that. Or maybe you just want to add to your Manga wigs and pick up a bright pink addition, have some of the free hugs these events seem to be covered in or check out all the Cosplayers. It’s OK, we all do it.
Top TV celebrities from Futurama will be there, including multi-voiced maestro Billy West, who does the voice of practically everyone including Fry, the Professor and Stimpy from Ren & Stimpy.
Other media celebs are expected, but check out the full list as it stands just now. There will also be a number of comic book artists and writers, that list is growing too so check it out.
Confirmed so far are Warren Ellis (Transmetropolitan, The Authority, Fell), Jamie Mckelvie (The Uncanny X-Men: Heroic Age, Phonogram, Iron Man), Gary Erskine (Judge Dredd, Knights Of Pengragon) and Becky Cloonan (Demo, Northlanders and American Virgin).
You really want to know what else in store? Well, you’ll just have to keep your eyes peeled on the MCM Expo website. Tickets are available for any of the three days or for all three days. I’ll be there to spout out special reports on the goings ons at the Expo, in meantime have a little look at last year’s Expo and all the interesting people to meet.
Since this May Comic Con is over the Bank Holiday, your excuses for not going are officially weak.
