After last year’s fantastic event, the MCM London Expo is on again this year from 29 to 31 October at the Excel Centre in London’s Docklands.
It’s sure to be an overwhelming exhibition of the greatest comic books, TV shows, films and video games you’ll ever find in one place. In London. There will also be a brilliant, and all together fabulous, display of cosplayers – or hardcore fans in amazing costumes.
It’s billing itself as the London Comic-Con so you can think of it as Britain’s answer to the San Diego Comic-Con, or even the New York one. There will be discussion panels where you can put your questions to British Sci-Fi author Peter F Hamilton, as well as dozens of other writers and artist.
SyFy (that’s the new name for Britain’s Sci-Fi Channel) will be there to show off the likes of Warehouse 13, Eureka and new US show Haven. You’ll even get a chance to fire questions at the stars and creators of these shows, if you watch them of course.
Even if you have no interest in going, just go. I guarantee you’ll find the cosplayers alone the most fascinating group of show-offs outside of the cast of Glee. Plus you might learn what all the fuss is about and appreciate the finer delights of the science fiction and fantasy genres. Plus you can buy cool stuff. What’s not to like.
There’s far too much going on to list it all, but check the website for details of what to see and who to get excited about having stuff signed by. There will also be a whole bunch of Steampunk, Japanese stuff, Anime and other fascinating avenues of geek culture you never knew existed.
The MCM London Expo is on in the last weekend of October, at the Excel Centre in London. Tickets start from £16 for a day pass and you can book right here. You might want to hurry, though, tickets are selling fast.
I’m going. I mean, I’m so going. It’s life changing stuff, trust me. Or, failing that, it’ll give you conversation fodder for months to come.
