As one part of one of the most renowned musical families in the world, Martha Wainwright’s folk-rock, acoustic music has seen her contribute tracks to films including ‘Tower Of Song’ in Leonard Cohen: I’m Your Man and ‘I’ll Be Seeing You’ in The AviatorĀ , as well as release three albums and numerous EP’s.
Speaking exclusively to t5m, Martha tells us how she always ‘wanted to be a popstar’ but has found herself ‘trapped in a folksy world’, as well as what it was like growing up with her musical parents, Kate McGarrigal and Loudon Wainwright III. Noted for her expressive and emotional performances, Martha also explains how despite performing being a particularly draining aspect of her career it is worth it because of ‘what you get back from the audience’.
