OUT OF CONTEXT is a social enterprise set up to raise positive awareness of mental health.
Photographer Lorraine Goddard is passionate about supporting mental health issues and for the last few years has been working on an extensive project photographing people in the public eye to support her exhibition ‘Out Of Context’.
Lorraine’s drive and determination to raise awareness of positive mental health and reduce the stigma surrounding it as well as supporting the charities, stems from having witnessed at first hand the effects of manic depression. Her former husband is musician Adam Ant who has suffered publicly, and supports her in her quest.
The exhibition consists of a collection of black and white reportage style portraits inviting the viewer to a private insight into the unseen or unrealised world of loved personalities. Capturing a personal moment, Lorraine reveals the intimate, positive, non-associative realms of their lives in a behind-the-scenes look at what makes them happy.
The on-going collection and exhibition hosted by Getty Images Gallery will tour in the UK before moving on to New York and LA through 2010. Lorraine has also been invited to exhibit in Sydney, Dubai and Tokyo. Different images will be shown in different cities before coming together to form a beautiful coffee table book for charity.
As a Patron of Young Minds, a children’s mental health charity, Lorraine will also be raising funds by selling Limited Edition Prints from the collection to help continue Young Mind’s work in schools in association with The Charles Waller Trust. The prints will be available from the launch night and afterwards on-line at lorrainegoddard.co.uk.
