With New York Fashion Week kicking off later this week, it can mean only one thing: London is next! Fashion industry excitement has reached fever-pitch in the last couple of months, as designers and luxury brands such as Matthew Williamson and Burberry announced their comeback to the London catwalks to help the British Fashion Council celebrate its 25th birthday. Then came the news that Anna Wintour would grace us with her presence – what more could we want?

Well, for starters, last week it was confirmed that both Joan and Jackie Collins would be guests at Pringle’s aftershow dinner and therefore are odds on to be centre front row at the show as well. Two icons dining at an established Brit label’s dinner party? We want to be a fly on that wall…

In fashion show news, Temperley London announced that they would once again be showing their spring/summer 2010 collection through the multimedia platform, with a presentation showing stills from the collection and film footage of behind the scenes and the inspiration behind the latest Temperley looks. The show will debut in New York before travelling to London and through to Paris. With fashion and technology fusing together more readily these days, is it only a matter of time before the catwalk becomes more democratic and more brands opt for a multimedia presentation that can be seen online and therefore by more than the just show-goers? Nick Knight’s SHOWstudio phenomenon has allowed designers to create ways of making the audience a part of the creative process – hopefully Temperley’s second foray into this medium will encourage others to follow suit. Online technology is the future after all!

And of course, the fashion magazines are thinking everything LFW this month – but Elle has gone one step further and dedicated the latest issue to all things London – starting with a cover featuring London mayor Boris Johnson! The cover is a special edition version, alongside a parallel cover featuring Brit singer-turned-designer-turned model Lily Allen, who is sporting a shock of blonde hair –taking her inspiration from Boris perhaps?
