A woman who needs no introduction, Telegraph Fashion Editor Hilary Alexander shares her thoughts on Mark Fast and Mary Katrantzou at this year’s London Fashion Week.

As we overhear her interviewing Mark Fast over his choice to include plus size models in his collection - we were intrigued by Hilary’s position that it wasn’t the size of the models people had issues with, but rather their ability to walk on the runway.

Hilary explained that Mark has developed as a designer since his last season, that he has evolved from skinny knits and come through with something altogether more wearable – with scarves, capes and layering – so that the dresses aren’t so exposed.

And those models? Well, Hilary agrees that by putting his designs on more ‘realistic’ bodies, Mark is making his designs more accessible to consumers (for one, Sarah Brown who was in the front row of his show) and that by mixing the plus size girls with standard sized models, he was avoiding the controversy of last season.

An opinion worth listening to!
