What a morning of delights at Somerset House as Newgen designer’s David Koma and Holly Fulton went back to back to present their Spring/Summer 11 collections.
David Koma was up first with a fabulous collection of fifties style skater girl skirts and dresses, ranging from marsh mellow pink and white, to black, gold and yellow. Peplum skirts were the central theme at Koma, as well as dresses with full on flirty ruffles and pleats, maintaining balance and proportion with a tighter, body con style top. Particularly successful was the use of gold on leather. Koma’s attention to detail meant these LBD’s took on a life of thier own, with the introduction of gold panelling, and black mesh trails, resulting in a seriously sexy collection.
Prints were played with, resulting in a number of geometrical style dresses, teamed with staggering gold or black platforms. Accessories were also fierce, Koma really had us lusting after those chunky gold cuffs and bangles.
All in all, a tough, strong and sexy collection from Koma. The Skater girl skirt will be huge for Spring/Summer 11.
