The most successful plus-size model since Sophie Dahl, Crystal Renn takes the fashion industry by storm as she graces pages of glossy magazines as the new face of Chanel. However, the question is, is Renn just the face, and not the body, of Chanel? In the most recent campaign, Renn’s size 14 curves are cropped at the shoulders, hiding her womanly figure that she is rightly so proud of and famous for. Renn isn’t one to take to such matters lightly, previously criticising photographer Nicholas Routzen for having air-brushed her to a meager size zero for a Fashion for Passion Campaign. Crystal Renn currently considers landing the Chanel campaign the ‘proudest moment’ of her life. It will be interesting to see what extent Chanel can exploit Renn’s face is their future campaigns before she is awoken to the harsh reality that it is simply her face they are selling, unfortunately in this case, not her plus-size body.
