Glasgow is already well-known in fashion circles, having produced designers such as Jonathan Saunders and Christopher Kane. But now the city’s presence on the fashion map is set to increase significantly under a new £300,000 investment plan. The idea is to produce a handbag-sized shopping guide which will highlight all of the best shops, eateries and services.
3.5 million people visited Glasgow in 2008, making it the most popular UK shopping destination besides London. If you are thinking about visiting Glasgow for a shopping trip, make sure you head straight for the “golden Z.” It comprises of Argyle Street, Buchanan Street and Sauchiehall Street, and here you will find all the major high street and designer brands, including the likes of Urban Outfitters and Apple which have flagship stores here.
The new shopping guide will contain recommendations from local residents. Are you a resident of Glasgow, or have you been there to shop? What are your top tips for first-time visitors to the city?
