Kenny tells t5m that heĀ found he had a lot of free time between filming, and so he decided to take up directing which was something he was always interested in. He teamed up with Caroline Carver, who wrote and produced the short film entitled ‘You, Me, and Captain Longbridge’, while Kenny directed. As it was only a 15 minute film, they had trouble getting funding, Kenny says that it felt like ‘nobody in the country would want to fund a first time director working on film as opposed to HD’.
With film, it is expensive but people are more determined to get it right and completed within 24 frames. On the other hand, shooting in HD, no-one really cares since the scene can be shot again and again. In the end, he got private filming and the shoot lasted for four days.
Howeverm it was was all worth it in the end, Kenny assures us, saying ‘it was an amazing, anxious, and most rewarding experience’.
