The Old Maid is Still Milking It!

I had barely swallowed my last bite of Thanksgiving turkey before a barrage of Christmas party invites from around the world started arriving via cyber and snail mail. Call me old fashioned, but I do still give more credence and serious consideration to the hand written variety that arrive with a stamp! I detest mass mailings on facebook.

    Effective, but so tacky.

I find it quite flattering that I'm still invited to...

What happened when this stubborn meat and potatoes girl met Oprah's favorite vegan chef? A culinary adventure called The Conscious Cook Challenge that reignited my passion for creative cooking, eating healthy, thinking a little more green, and feeling fully satiated without any animal protein!

My vegetarian (now ex) husband and my precious daughter tried for years to persuade me there was life after giving up meat. One bite of Tal Ronnen's...

I blame it all on my hot pink Kensai coat. I was 16, and thought I had died and gone to heaven when the doorman at Studio 54 pointed over to me, and said “YOU! You can go in!“ It was like being Alice in Wonderland on acid with strobes and disco balls, people dancing, Steve Rubell holding court with all his famous friends, and half naked men dressed as...

If you have read Jewels from The Roving Stove, you will know that I love photographs. I often use photographs to fill in where my memories fail. Little snippets of life; occasions, places, and people that I’ve adored.  I can picture my elder years vividly… my rocking chair, my view of the Caribbean (I’m an island sort of gal), a few noisy but well-behaved grandchildren running about, with a zillion...

    The Roving Stove Gathers...
I've been throwing dinner parties ever since I can remember. It started with parties for my dolls when I was a little girl, and eventually grew into my career... The Roving Stove really lived up to it's name a couple weeks ago when I was in the middle of preparing dinner for 17 girlfriends in honor of our friend Lisa Barbuscia Bilton who was visiting from London....

I once flew from Cairo to London just to pick up a frock for a party... then flew on several hours later to a New Years Eve party in Aspen. A friend had taken me to see a young designer called Maria Grachvogel. She was just starting out, so her Kings Road apartment doubled as her showroom.
She recently told me "I thought you were completely mad. I had no idea what...

The invitation reads “ ‘Rock n Roll’ and ‘Public Library’ shouldn't mix, one phrase is brash, loud the other sedate and quiet. Yet these two cultures are about to collide. For the first time since the 1850 Library Act that much loved British institution the public library is about to gain a loud, revolutionary 21st century companion."

Last Wednesday unleashed Mick Jones Rock n Roll...
