Classical crossover star Katherine Jenkins said, “I’m really proud to be a part of what is going to be the most amazing day in honour of our troops. The troops have always been very close to my heart having visited them overseas many times. It’s fantastic that so many artists are coming together to raise awareness and show support of all that they do.”

With it’s stellar line up, organisers had to seek permission from venue Twickenham Stadium to increase their capacity by 5000 to accommodate extra troops and fans, bringing the number of tickets upto 60,000 for the very first time.

James and the other headliners will be joined by comedians including John Bishop, Jack Dee and Michael McIntyre, with all proceeds going straight to Help For Heroes, helping to fund rehabilitation centres around the country.

Case in point is none other than t5m favourite James Blunt, who recently had the distinct pleasure of being hosted by actress Sienna Miller as she celebrated her stepmother, Kelly Hoppen’s 50th birthday in Ibiza.

It seems that James is taking a well earned break from songwriting – as he was also recently spotted hobknobbing with royalty in yet another Ibizan hot spot, Boujis – along with Jade Jagger and Princess Eugenie.

I suppose we shouldn’t be too surprised that James is popping up all over Ibiza, as he has selected the island as his official residence – and James explains to us all about why he loves the white isle so much in his exclusive interview with t5m.

But fortunately, James also manages to amuse us all with tales from his tour bus and his love for Ibiza.

A man who has set a new and exacting standard for the ‘love song’, James Blunt, talks exclusively to t5m about the difficulties of adjusting to fame, his musical heritage and what motivates him to write songs.

In his typically self-deprecating and endearing style, James Blunt tells us about his humble career plans  ‘I thought I would make an album, and if someone liked it, I would make a second one’ and his ’surprise, shock and horror’ following his outstanding performance on the Pyramid stage at Glastonbury.

The honey-voiced one has been everywhere from Russia to Finland, with a brief detour to Dubai for the annual Jazz Festival, where he performed alongside John Legend. 

During his 90minute set in Belgrade, many (mostly female) members of the audience were bought to tears as they sang along to ‘You’re Beautiful’ and ‘Goodbye My Lover’ - as well as tracks from his current album ‘All The Lost Souls’.

At one point he sat on his piano and told the audience “I met many Serbs who immediately became my friends. I talked to them and I was moved by their courage and compassion. That’s how this song was made – No Bravery”.

This was particulary poignant, due to the time James had spent in Kosovo as part of the KOR force.

The concert ended with the song “1973”, a song, says Blunt, for all lost souls, a key single from the latest album which  exhibits a noticeable 70’s influence, a nostalgic period for Blunt.

“The song is dedicated to a girl named Simone…this song that celebrates the time we spent together in 2006”, said Blunt.

His European tour finishes on Saturday 7th March with a sell-out gig in Athens – after that we imagine James will be on his way back home to Ibiza for some much needed R&R.

Along with other stars including Emma Thompson and Dinos Champman, Blunt has sketched designs for the planes which are to be sent flying over the Hospital Club in London’s Covent Garden tomorrow; each one carrying with it a green message.

The event has been organised by environmental group Green Thing, as part of their Stay Grounded campaign. Their chief executive, James Alexander has said, ‘the start of a new year is when people look to book their holidays and we hope the campaign will encourage people to consider alternative transport where they can when planning their journey.”
