Last night Italian designer, Alberta Ferretti, selected the final winners of the 2010 Graduate Fashion Week Gala. Amongst fashion stars of the future were celebs including Nicola Roberts, Erin O’Connor, Rachel Stevens and Barbara Hulaniki.
The £20,000 River Island Gold Award was presented to Rebecca Thomson of Manchester University School of Art for best student collection.
The 22 -year- old based her collection on the classic white shirt, re-styled with giant, striped and polka-dot bow-ties, lace bib-collars, and skirts with cascading pleats in a palette of white, pale dove grey, soft peach and black.
Rhea Fields, of Northbrook College Surrey, took home the womenswear award for her strong and contemporary collection. Thomas Crisp’s (Ravensbourne) rock star-ready range won the menswear award.
Anna Lee of De Montfort University won the Zandra Rhodes Catwalk Textiles prize, while the BHM Knitwear Visionary Award went to Ledina Zhang of Northumbria University. Roya Hesam, from the Amsterdam Fashion Institute received the International award.
So another year and another great showcase of Britain’s fashion designing talent.
Personally I can’t wait to see what’s on offer next year….
